Carbohydrates contribute to the recovery of normal muscle function (contraction) after highly intensive and/or long-lasting physical exercise leading to muscle fatique and the depletion of glycogen in skeletal muscle. Consume at least 4g/kg bodyweight of carbohydrates from all sources withing 4-6 hours.
